This is a pretty inspirational story - fully independent artists getting a Grammy nomination is a truly wonderful thing. Without downplaying Nicolay's role (or indeed Muhsinah's) in all of this, the consistence with which Phonte has been part of projects that you go out and buy, then play for years afterwards is what really inspires me. I still listen to Connected and The Listening regularly. How many hip hop artists can you think of who give you the impression seven years in their best may be yet to come? (Personally I want to hear a solo album).
Sorry, that was a little of piste - it would be amazing if Foreign Exchange won and I will be crossing everything for them on Grammy night.
