Only three weeks to go until Santigold's new album "Master of Make Believe" comes out and I've just pre-ordered it. Unsurprisingly it sent me back to her debut album, which brought home again how incredible Santi is as a songwriter.

Sometimes when something looks and sounds like it belongs on the cover of the Fader and the iTunes playlist of every scene kid you listen accordingly - what does someone wearing fluorescent green leggings have to say that's of worth? Often that assumption is spot on, but Santi doesn't just draw inspiration from the great reggae, hip hop and punk writers who voiced their generations disquiet and angst, she's one of them.
