Video: Benin City "Accelerate"

Benin City are making awesome singles a habit - Accelerate makes two out of two. I would say I love this, but I love it in a horror film-flash back to university halls days. Not me personally obviously, but Kev and Dave the Scousers I had to share a kitchen with (Dave bit half of his own tongue off during a drunken fight in our first term). They made the guy in this video look like a paragon of virtue and refinement.

'Accelerate' is available on iTunes now, unfortunately the press release didn't give a release date for the album, perhaps they got a bit hazy and forgot to include it after a debauched night in a wheelie bin.

Homeboy Sandman "Mine All Mine" Video

There was a time I used to wonder what rappers really thought and felt but couldn't actually say, underneath the anger, the politics, the bragging, the obligatory lies about sex etc. I used to wonder what it would be like to have a proper heart to heart with your favourite rapper. Then Drake and Tyler The Creator came along, and as with watching Peep Show, I've come to realise in most cases my general ignorance of the male mind is a pretty blissful state.

That doesn't include Homeboy Sandman however, who doesn't have much in the way of a filter between him and the outside world (see video above), but luckily he's an amazing person with a really interesting perspective on things. I have to say from hanging out with the guy, there isn't a vast difference between listening to his music and sitting with him in a cafe, but this is the first time I've seen him manage to achieve the exact same effect through a music video.

You can buy his latest release Subject: Matter from Stones Throw now, all of the songs on it are about things no one has ever rapped about before in the history of rap. Ever.
